 Colours are everywhere. We are affected by colour consciously or subconsciously all the time. Hardly do we know the effects colour or coloured light has on us. 


What is Colour Therapy?

    Colour Healing, Therapy and Meditation or chromotherapy is the practice of healing using colour or coloured light to heal mental and physical health and spiritual energy imbalance that has a possibility of leading to a physical or mental illness, in short, any kind of disease. 

  The research worldwide speaks about the various frequencies colour light has and how it affects the energy of our bodies. For instance, the Blue colour has a calming effect which helps in lowering blood pressure. Red colour has the opposite effect and ends up helping you to higher your blood pressure. 


How is the colour therapy carried out?

  Diagnosis of underlying mental and physical issues has to be determined for the Colour healing, Therapy and meditation to work. Counselling sessions are set and the colour therapist helps you understand the impact and importance of different colours in your day-to-day life. The colours can inspire you, relax your mind and body, heal wherever needed. 

Colour therapists sometimes might ask you to include colour in your diet such as coloured vegetables from lime, berries to lettuce leaves, cabbage, etc. 

How do colours work and how do they help?

 

  1. Red - This color corresponds to energy. Helps in the treatment of various diseases or illness such as - low blood pressure, anaemia, paralysis. It acts as a stimulant by bringing warmth to cool extremities as well as in stimulating bloodflow. 

Vegetables and fruits to be included are - Watermelon, tomatoes, red cabbage, beet, radish, red-skinned fruits.


  1. Blue - It has a polar opposite affect on our body. Provides a soothing, cool effect to our body and acts like sedative in reducing pain, bleed, and burns. Treatements of asthma or respiratory disorders, high blood pressure, dysentry is where the colour blue is used and has proven beneficial. 

One can include blue grapes, beans in their diet.


  1. Orange -  Stimulates the blood supply and energizes the nerves as well. Research says it helps in the action of producing milk after childbirth in mammals. Individuals having kidney issues, gall bladder stones, hernia, appendicitis will benefit more. 

By consuming orange-coloured fruit and vegetables like apricot, mango, peach, carrot, papaya. 


  1. Green - We have all heard how green vegetables help. Treatments of ulcers, influenza and cold, malaria, cancer, sexual disorders, inflmmatory issues and conditions as well as nervous system benefits from greeny vegetables. 

Spinach, lettuce, green mango, grapes, beans, and including other green vegetables and fruits. 

 

  1. Purple - It is the perfect mixture of the cooling blue and the warming red. The colour mixture sets this as the perfect stimulant without causing any irritation. 

    One can include purple cabbage, lettuce leaves in treating stomach disorders, migraine, and other skin disorders. 


  1. Yellow - Acts as a stimulant to the liver, brain and the spleen. Lime, lemon, pumpkin, guava, mango, banana are a few of the vegetables and fruits that can be included in the diet. 

 Yellow diet helps in the treatment of kidney and liver disorders, throat as well as eye infections, constipation, indigestion, diabetes.
